Bigg Boss Season 6

 Bigg Boss Season 6

The TV reality show Bigg Boss season 6 has not been so interesting as its previous seasons used to be. Now, Colors bosses are reportedly thinking seriously to spice up the atmosphere in both modern and mud houses. They are said to have planned to bring stand-up comedian Bharti Singh, who is all set to play a troublemaker in this hell-hole situated in Lonavala.

Reports suggest that Bharti Singh will enter the Bigg Boss 6 house to stir up more confusion. It is reported that the Comedy Circus Ke Ajoobe star will play pranks by hiding people's belongings. Talking to an entertainment portal, she says that Rajev Paul is her personal prime target because he gets very angry on girls.

Bharti Singh is entering the house as a guest and she will be a part of a task called ‘Ignore the obvious'. Talking about the Bigg Boss offer, she says she has been getting the offer for the past three years. But she could not accept it due to her other commitments. She adds that she will take up the offer, when she is relaxed and in a mood to fight.

However, Bharti Singh has hogged the limelight with her stint on the Sony's Comedy Circus series. Now, she is likely to enter Bigg Box 6 house on November 28. It should seen whether she will repeat the same hungama that she created on Comedy Circus. Stay locked to this space to read more updates on Bigg Boss season 6.

Ajmal Kasab's execution

 Ajmal Kasab's Execution

Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab was a Pakistani militant and a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba Islamist group. Kasab was the only attacker captured alive by police in 2008 Mumbai attacks.

Born: July 13, 1987, Faridkot, Okara
Died: November 21, 2012, Pune

ohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab, was executed on Wednesday, nearly four years after 166 people were killed in a three-day rampage through India’s financial capital.

Pakistan-born Kasab was hanged at Yerwada jail in Pune in the western state of Maharashtra after President Pranab Mukherjee rejected his pleas for mercy earlier this month.

“Kasab was transferred to Yerwada jail two days ago. He was hanged at 7:30 this morning (0200 GMT),” Maharashtra home minister R.R. Patil announced to reporters in Mumbai. “His execution is a fitting tribute to the victims of Mumbai attacks.”

The 25-year-old Kasab was one of 10 gunmen who laid siege to the city in attacks that began on November 26, 2008, and lasted nearly three days. It was the deadliest militant onslaught on Indian soil since independence.

He was sentenced to death in May 2010 after he was found guilty of a string of charges, including waging war against India, murder and terrorist acts.

During the attacks, the heavily-armed gunmen stormed targets in Mumbai including luxury hotels, a Jewish centre, a hospital and a bustling train station.

Kasab initially pleaded not guilty at his trial but later confessed, admitting he was one of the gunmen sent by the LeT.

At his trial, the prosecution produced fingerprint, DNA, eyewitness and TV footage evidence showing him opening fire and throwing grenades at Mumbai’s main railway station in the bloodiest episode of the attacks.

When his trial began in 2009, Kasab at first appeared relaxed, joking or smiling at lawyers and reporters.

But he seemed increasingly sullen, withdrawn and even asleep as the trial progressed, prompting fears for his mental state. He showed no emotion in the dock when the verdict was handed down.

Kasab appealed in the Supreme Court, claiming he did not receive a fair trial but his petition was struck down in August.

During his appeal, Kasab argued that he was denied proper legal representation and that some charges against him were not proved beyond a reasonable doubt.

Thanksgiving Day

 Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day has been an annual holiday in the United States since 1863. Not everyone sees Thanksgiving Day as a cause for celebration. Each year since 1970, a group of Native Americans and their supporters have staged a protest for a National Day of Mourning at Plymouth Rock in Plymouth, Massachusetts on Thanksgiving Day.

American Indian Heritage Day is also observed at this time of the year.
There are claims that the first Thanksgiving Day was held in the city of El Paso, Texas in 1598. Another early event was held in 1619 in the Virginia Colony. Many people trace the origins of the modern Thanksgiving Day to the harvest celebration that the Pilgrims held in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1621. However, their first true thanksgiving was in 1623, when they gave thanks for rain that ended a drought. These early thanksgivings took the form of a special church service, rather than a feast.
In the second half of the 1600s, thanksgivings after the harvest became more common and started to become annual events. However, it was celebrated on different days in different communities and in some places there were more than one thanksgiving each year. George Washington, the first president of the United States, proclaimed the first national Thanksgiving Day in 1789.

Life Of Pi Movie Review

 Life Of Pi

A boy trapped with a tiger on a lifeboat in the deep blue sea, and a 3D film that plays out most of its two hours narrating what happens on the boat. To say it is a tough deal would be an understatement, and you could be excused for being wary about Life Of Pi.

If Oscar-winner Ang Lee manages to serve us a winner, it is because his new film is nothing short of a cinematic miracle. Few films take pop cinema to an altogether different realm of imagination- you could actually count the few examples to have come out of mainstream Hollywood lately on the fingers of one hand. Inception for one, also Hugo and Looper. Life Of Pi just topped the list of all such contemporary efforts that celebrate the magic of cinema.

Lee's directorial effort is overwhelming for another reason. You would struggle to find another film that so fluidly blends the tech-specks with aesthetic finery. Life Of Pi is a visual spectacle, and the 3D here is the best you have ever seen (yes, it's better than Avatar). And yet the film doesn't become a mere glitzy package. It never loses focus from the deeper subtext of Yann Martel's Man Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name on which it is based.

On the 3D aspect in particular, Hollywood filmmakers out blindly exploiting the technology for quick bucks could pick a lesson or two from the way Lee uses it. The use of 3D in this film is not for the sake of gimmick. Lee actually taps the third dimension to explain what cannot be cinematically told. Sample a shot where the camera is placed below the water and looks right up past the boat, which is on the sea surface, into the faraway sky above. It's the creative genius of Lee at work, using the wonder of 3D to show you the infinite expanse in which the film's hero survives all alone on the boat. In a film based on a book that hardly had dialogues, 3D becomes a tool that awes, communicates and also underlines Martel's intrinsic philosophy.

That Lee's vision of the story will be splendid becomes obvious in the opening frames, as the camera laps up scenic Pondicherry. Piscine Patel- or Pi- lives here with his parents (Tabu and Adil Hussain). The narrative crisply establishes Pi's love for and understanding of various animals because his father runs a zoo. The family falls on hard times, Pi's dad sells the zoo. The boy, now a teenager, sails off to Canada with his family. A shipwreck later Pi (Suraj Sharma) finds himself on a 27-foot lifeboat with an injured zebra, a hyena, an orangutan and a Royal Bengal tiger.

David Magee's material based on Martel's book uses light jest and restrained melodrama while unfolding Pi's early years, before the real adventure unfolds on the boat. Tabu and Adil Hussain, despite brief footage, help create an authentic milieu, to give an idea of the years that shape Pi's courage and presence of mind.

Aam Aadmi Party

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), India's newest political party, was on Monday formally launched by activist Arvind Kejriwal in the presence of thousands of supporters.

"This party is result of our struggle against corruption," said Kejriwal, who had announced the name of his party Saturday.

His colleague Manish Sisodia declared the name of the party to the gathering in central Delhi's Jantar Mantar and said: "It is our party."

Sisodia also announced the names of the other 23 members of the national executive body. These include Sisodia himself as well as Prashant Bhushan, Dinesh Waghela, Sanjay Singh, Gopa Rai and Kumar Vishwas.

"Kejriwal takes the position as the national convenor. Pankaj Gupta would be the national secretary, Krishna Kanth would be national treasurer of AAP," Waghela said.

Earlier in the day, Kejriwal and his colleagues visited Mahatma Gandhi's memorial Raj Ghat. He also paid tributes to B.R.

Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum Review

Movie Name :  Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum

Directed by   :  Krish
Produced by  :   Saibabu Jagarlamudi Y Rajeev Reddy
Starring     :  Rana Daggubati , Nayantara
Music by   :  Mani Sharma
Cinematography :    V S Gnanasekhar
Studio   :  First Frame Entertainment
Distributed by  :   7 Seas Inc (overseas)[1]
Release date : November 30, 2012
Language     Telugu , Tamil

Review :

Krish (Radhakrishna Jagarlamudi) makes movies set in a contemporary milieu. He weaves topical issues seamlessly into the plot, and makes it riveting to watch. His earlier movies Gamyam and Vedam are testimony to that.

His latest film, Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum, blends together the dying art form of theatre called Surabhi and the topical issue of mining in Bellary.

There's enough drama in this action adventure to keep one glued to the screen.

B Tech Babu (Rana Daggubati) is a reluctant theatre artiste who wants to go to America for higher studies. But his grandfather (Kota Srinivasa Rao) wants him to continue acting and participate in the Bellary theatre fest.

After his grandfather's death, Babu realises that his grandfather wanted the play he had written called Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum to be staged there. This actually binds the Surabhi troupe and Babu to stay together.

Babu and the Surabhi troupe arrive in Bellary where they run into Devika (Nayantara [ Images ]) a documentary filmmaker who is trying to expose the illegal mining resorted to by Redappa (Milind Gunaji [ Images ]) and Chakravarthi (Murli Sharma [ Images ]).

Babu locks horns with Redappa and comes to know of his shady past. The film is thus about staging the play and fulfilling his responsibility as well as about the tribals fight for their land. The film links the art and mining issues well. Mythology, philosophy and reality unfurl in a fascinating manner.

There are some terrific moments in the film which includes the climax.

The good screenplay is matched by some fine dialogues by Sai Madhav Burra which are not just punchy but loaded with meaning.

Murthy's art direction and Gnanasekhar's cinematography reflect the mood and tenor of the film.

Mani Sharma has done a great job with his musical score, particularly the background and the song Jarugutunnadi Jagannatakam which is written so powerfully by Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry.

Talaash Movie Review

Movie: Talaash (2012)
Starcast: Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee
Director: Reema Kagti
Producer: Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani
Banner: Aamir Khan Productions, Excel Entertainment
Release Date: June 1st 2012

Review :

There’s a lot of searching in Talaash; Aamir’s quest to solve a murder, Rani gropes for closure, Nawazuddin tries to find a way out of his hellish life.

When a famous actor dies in a mysterious accident, police officer Surjan Singh Shekhawat aka Suri (Aamir Khan) mixes up his personal and professional worlds. His search for answers takes him to seedy whorehouses and a milieu of pigheadedly uncooperative to dangerously seductive characters.

He has a street-smart junior, Devrath (Raj Kumar Yadav) who helps him in the investigation, a deliciously inviting hooker, Rosy (Kareena Kapoor), who drops mysterious hints about the case and talks in riddles, and a tricky Temur (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who’s playing his own games. While he tries to connect the dots of the murder, blackmail and the lies, he and wife Roshni (Rani Mukerji) are barely able to come to terms with the death of their son. Old hands in the police department try and persuade Suri to drop the case, claiming it to be one of the unexplained “A Final” ones.

Blaming himself for his son’s death, Suri spends his nights wide awake, driving through desolate streets and seeking answers, leaving Roshni alone to grapple with her pain. So when a neighbour (Shernaz Patel) claims to talk to her dead son’s spirit, Roshni does not need much convincing to seek her help.

Was the actor’s death an accident or murder? Is there something that connects Suri’s son’s death and the actor? Does Temur help the investigation, botch it or start his own games altogether? And what role does Rosy really play in all of this?

The answers aren’t all purely deductive, but veer to the supernatural as well.

Sharmila Reddy of Jagan Mohan Reddy's sister Take Care of Party

38-year-old Sharmila Reddy has embarked on an ambitious pan Andhra Pradesh road show to win wider support for her detained brother Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy to usher in YSR Congress rule and fulfill what their father envisioned for the state.

It is for the first time that a woman is setting out on such an odyssey in the state's political history.

On October 18, after paying homage at her father's grave, on the family estate in their native Idupulapaya village in Kadapa district, Sharmila, sporting a black ribbon, began the 3,000 km walkathon in a longer and more intensive trek than her father's 1,700 km Maha Prasthanam between April 9 and June 13, 2003.

Her long march Maro Praja Prasthanam is likely to take about six months.

Heralding her arrival is a theme song 'vastunnayi vastunnayi Jaganadha rathachakra ostunnayi' (The wheels of Lord Jagannath's chariot are rolling in) inspired by the lines of legendary Telugu poet Sri Sri and his magnum opus Maha Prastanam.

The song written by popular Telugu lyricist Anantha Sriram and sung by Vandemataram Srinivas says Jaganmohan Reddy has deputed Sharmila as his representative to assure the people that their problems will be solved when the YSR Congress comes to power.

Sharmila mass contact plan is to listen to people's grievances along her way, deviate from the main routes to visit villages in the interior to emphathise with the distraught and gather first hand their gripes about governance in the state.

At select places, she is to address rallies launching nuanced attacks on the ruling Congress and how it has altered or scuttled different welfare programmes, taunt and target the rival TDP for going soft on the Congress, challenge it to move a motion of no-confidence against the Kiran Kumar Reddy ministry and speak of how her family has become a victim of politics of vendetta.

Sharmila is aware of how to take the issues to an emotional level and sway the audiences having travelled extensively with her evangelist husband Brother Anil Kumar.

The YSR Congress game plan is to turn Jagan's prolonged absence into a tactical advantage and enable him to continue the journey when he is out of prison on bail.

The party is against taking any chances and losing time just in case the assembly elections as well as the Lok Sabha elections are advanced. For evocative appeal, Sharmila, like her father did in 2003, is also to stay at makeshift facilities during her travel.

Son of Sardar Review

Movie: Son of Sardar (2012)

Starcast: Ajay Devgn,Sonakshi Sinha,Sanjay Dutt,Juhi Chawla,Mukul Dev,Vindu Dara Singh

Director: Ashwni Dhir

Producer: Ajay Devgan,N.R.Pachisia,Pravin Talreja

Banner: Viacom 18 Motion Pictures

Release Date: November 13, 2012

A remake of the south classic by master filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli, Son of Sardar is the story of Ajay Devgn, who returns to his village to sell off his ancestral property. At the station, he bychances to meet Sonakshi Sinha & therein begins, one of the most unromantic love tracks Bollywood masala films have seen in a while. Befriending Sonakshi, he lands up at her house, unknowingly meeting her uncle, Sanjay Dutt, who, in a very cliched track to this film, wants to avenge the feud his family had with Ajay's father.Alas, he believes in 'Athithi Devo Bhava' & thats the base of the film. He wants to kill Ajay but wont do it in the house.

The first half genuinely has a few laughs but its all downhill at an alarming pace from there on. I actually enjoy masala bollywood crap, but this is just boring. The songs by Himesh are also very weak. The latter half & climax are deafening & cringeworthy. Ajay Devgn as the naive, innocent Sardar really doesn't fit into the 'Son of Sardar' mold & his physicality doesn't help much either. Sonakshi really needs to shed a few kilos. Juhi Chawla is effervescently charming. The music by Himesh is a major downer. Salmans cameo is milked completely & is whistle worthy. Director Ashiwinis Dhir's last films title would be more apt for this one, "Atithi tum kab Jaaoge".

Nisha, played by Varalaxmi, is an aspiring salsa dancer with a goal to win a ‘Letz Dance’ competition in London. Arjun and Nisha meet in a club and share a few drinks one lazy evening. Few days later, they’re madly in love with each other. Arjun, who’s an Indian, and moreover a Tamilian by birth, aspires to change Nisha before marriage. Nisha, born and raised in London, is completely against culture and society. When Nisha refuses to change some of her qualities for good, Arjun calls off their relationship. And they sulk for few days before reuniting with the intention of marriage.

Things change drastically post-wedding for Nisha and Arjun. While Nisha wants to closely dance with her salsa partner, Arjun intervenes citing her marital status. With her dance competition just three weeks away, Nisha should choose between her life or dance partner. Who will Nisha choose forms the rest of the story.

Poda - podi  presents itself as a modern-day love story, but it definitely isn’t. The film is a desperate attempt to catapult the actor’s image to one of the best dancers in the film industry, while Varalaxmi proves her mettle as one of the best dancers in the newcomers’ category. Never in its entire running time does the film strike a chord with the audience. Does the director want to prove that small adjustments in a relationship pave way to a happy and healthy ending? But on the contrary, he crushes his own philosophy by proving that if one gives in to adjustments, then he or she will suffer its consequence forever.

STR, in a desperate attempt to be the next superstar, fails miserably in his role. His character in this film is completely opposite to the one he played in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya, but he still seems to have maintained a subtle sarcasm in his acting, which he assumes, is his forte, but it’s definitely not. The film throws plenty of opportunities for the actor to dance, but he awaits his moment until the climax.

Varalaxmi doesn’t even spare a single moment to dance. Undeniably, she shines as a dancer, but she should definitely find herself a dubbing artist. Her voice reminds of Rani Mukerji’s voice in some of her earlier films such as Mehndi and Ghulam. She definitely needs to work on her expressions and most importantly on her diction if she plans to continue dubbing for herself.

As far as music is concerned, barring the Love pannlama track, which is a bad rip-off of Eminem’s Real Slim Shady, the rest of the album helps the film to maintain some interest.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan - Review

Movie: Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012)

Starcast: Shahrukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif

Director: Yash Chopra

Producer: Aditya Chopra

Banner: Yash Raj Films

Release Date: November 13, 2012

Jab Tak Hai Jaan is a sprawling love affair spanning over a decade having the splendiferous King Khan at its center and a sure handed direction by the master storyteller, Yash Chopra sahib! It is indeed a poetic dream come true with its canvas being flushed with sumptuous imageries of London and jaw dropping splendors of the valleys in Kashmir and Ladakh.

From far off, JTHJ may feel like yet another run-of-the-mill-romance-flick. On scraping the shiny surface, you will find a heartfelt account of passionate sentiments and eternal love that is tying people in a knot which is unbreakable even by the highest forces existing in this realm!

It follows the arc of Major Samar Anand, who heads the Bomb Defusal Squad for the Indian Army and is proclaimed as ‘The Man Who Cannot Die’. Enters a dreamer; the effervescent Akira Rai (Anushka Sharma), who walks over a personal diary of our soldier. Roll back to flashback and we are introduced to the wounded love affair of the same man to an exceptionally rich mademoiselle Meera (Katrina Kaif), the Pari floating on the surface of snow. The screenplay then focuses on these three characters and their undying spirit of loving one another till the borders of sanity.

Such intricacies and such densities of emotional heights can only be achieved by someone who has seen love at its very core. Yash Chopra sahib was one such individual and was a force of nature that will resonate his love for cinema in the walls of cine-fraternity for a long time to come. Ain’t he a genius? The sumptuous background wrapped around by the elegiac lines penned by Gulzar; Aren’t these the fundamental ingredients of a grand love story? The chords are pulled off at the right moments to strike a perfect balance between unconditional love and tragedies that go with it. The direction of JTHJ, in one word is, awe-inspiring!

Are we talking about giving a depth to the character? Who can accomplish that in a more profound manner than Shahrukh Khan! If Yash Raj can melt hearts, Shahrukh Khan can win them over by just a mere smile. He slips himself in the shoes of Samar to give us an unparalleled performance that thrives as the soul of JTHJ.

Anushka Sharma gave her best performance till date. Amidst such heavy names, she garners appreciation as the new-age-girl, who’s hesitant in falling in love with an already wounded man. Such was the energy and such was the charisma of her that she totally owned the screen whenever she made an appearance.

Well, its time people take this lady seriously. Katrina Kaif is now truly in the house with the other biggies. Carrying at once, both contemporary and retro feel, she touches one’s heart with ease.

When such majestic people are at work, the magic rarely fails. But, what went wrong with JTHJ is its runtime. Clocking around 3 hours, it feels cumbersome at times as some tête-à-têtes seem fruitless. The pacing, especially in the mid of first and second halves, lagged intolerably. Music, by A.R. Rahman, does not blows one off the hanger, but still, keeps one hooked on to the proceedings.

JTHJ recalls an earlier era when movies moved people, rather than manipulate them; and when the innocence superseded craft. A baggage full of towering performances, sweeping vistas, impeccable direction and a gigantic heart at its core, JTHJ is a beautiful ode to the essence of life.
